Help One Another Canada Foundation (HOA) is an international Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Alberta, Canada, whose mission is to eradicate barriers to success by strengthening global education and entrepreneurship. HOA envisions a poverty-free world where children have access to a decent education and families achieve self-sufficiency. We firmly believe that education, employment, and entrepreneurship are key to overcoming poverty.
At its inception back in 2009, Help One Another Canada operated international educational and economic empowerment projects in Burundi, Africa. The charity’s focus was to support underprivileged children in accessing a decent education and to finance projects that allowed less privileged women and families to create jobs and generate income. Many children sponsored by Help One Another Canada Foundation graduated from trade schools, high school, and university. Their touching testimonies can be read here.
In 2016, Help One Another Canada Foundation expanded to Alberta to empower newcomers and immigrants to successfully integrate into Alberta through education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
Help One Another Canada Foundation (HOA) has charitable status granted by the Canada Revenue Agency to registered charities and issues tax receipts to our donors.
We believe in the limitless potential of young people and choose to invest in them as the key to a brighter future for Alberta and Canadian communities and our world.
We hold ourselves and one another responsible for ensuring HOA maximizes its impact, and we do what we say we will do. We are committed to being open and honest about our operations and finances to deserve trust from our beneficiaries, our staff, our volunteers, our funders and other stakeholders.
We strive to make long term commitments, to build relationships, collaboration, and strategic alliances, and to build a high-performance organization capable of creating sustained, meaningful, and effective impact.
We are deeply connected with Black and racialized young people, their parents, and our community. We commit to allowing their voices to guide our work, and to doing whatever it takes to help them thrive.
We strive to increase justice and fairness through equal access to services, programs, opportunities, and advancement for Black and racialized youth and their families. We strive to identify and eliminate (whenever we can), or advocate for elimination of barriers that prevent the full participation of Black and racialized youth and their families.
